HISTORIC PROVENANCE

The Mirror Girandole echoes the elegance of a girandole (1817) in The Met collection, made for the Albany townhouse of Stephen Van Rensselaer IV (American, 1786–1868). Popular during the American Federal period (1788–1825), girandoles featured candle arms that extend from the frame, allowing light to reflect off the convex mirror and illuminate the room.
